NOW OFFERING PERSONAL HOLIDAY SHOPPING SERVICES

Image
Season's Greetings! I’d like to introduce a new holiday shopping service I organically launched in late November. I have family in Hawai’i and every year for the past few, I’ve put together and gift-wrapped goodies from Trader Joe’s and sent them with their other gifts. They are all foodies and the first year the box was filled only with Trader Joe’s and they were thrilled! This year I decided to extend this idea and offer it as a personal shopping service for friends and family living in the islands, including gift wrapping if preferred. As I began making the photo lay-outs of the items I suggest for them, I had a flash that maybe friends’ and family here might like these as well - OR - want to hire me for their *personal holiday shopping in general. TRADER JOE'S HOLIDAY BEAUTY SELECTIONS For the super busy, here is one idea! A selection of wellness and beauty products available at Trader Joe's. This gift package would be perfect for the lady in your life, or for y

HELP SUPPORT "LET THERE BE ROCK SCHOOL, PANHANDLE" SHENANDOAH VALLEY, WV

Image
Greetings to all! Today is #GivingTuesday and there are an ever-increasing number of organizations doing incredibly important work on behalf of others, that it is almost impossible to select just one. This year, o n Giving Tuesday and beyond I’d like to help raise money for the Let There Be Rock School Panhandle (LTBRSP) . After reading a passionately written post about LTBRSP on Facebook by my friend Scott Devours, I promised I’d help.  Here’s why... t his school located in Martinsburg, WV is owned and operated by William Rice, Scott’s lifelong friend, fellow musician and most importantly, an adult living with cystic fibrosis (CF). The opportunity to be able to help both causes is very important to me.  If you have known me for more than 20 years, you know people living with CF are instantly near and dear to my heart for many reasons. The importance of providing music education for our youth and access to music education is, too - we can not fail them and must also protect,

PASTICHE GARDENS FOUNDER, RENEE HOWARD, CREATES THE "HEAVY METAL WALL" OF NORTH HOLLYWOOD

Image
Part of Renee Howard's "HEAVY METAL WALL" Located in North Hollywood, CA (All photos by Shawni Groves) In early August, I happened upon this mind-blowing wall of found objects and recycled materials that had been whimsically transformed into a 45' mosaic art piece. I did not know anything about the artist, there were no visible identifiers I could see, so I took several photos and made a point to return.  Renee Howard and installation assistants on Saturday, August 18, 2018 I did just that on Saturday, August 18 and was thrilled to see and meet  mosaic artist and creator, Renee Howard and her team of volunteer installers. They were set-up on the sidewalk continuing to carefully secure each nut, penny and bolt, alongside colorful pieces of cut aluminum, mirrors, bottle glass, and odds and ends into a continuous swirling pattern.    Many of the circular works remind me of chakra's as the flow of energy they create is very much alive
